Tilney St. Lawrence Village NEW representatives

At our AGM 2008, the committee members agreed to ask for a representative from the Tilney St Lawrence Parish Church onto our committee as trustees. We are pleased to announce this post has been filled by Brian & Linda COBB. We would like to welcome them and hope both become active members of our well established organisation.

Tilney St. Lawrence Village Committee AGM 2008

The AGM was held in the village hall on Wednesday 12th March 2008.

All officers and trustees stood down and then the secretary conducted the election
of a new
Committee for 2008/2009

All new members positions are posted in the MEMBERS section.

The Committee would like to thank all retiring Officers for their good work throughout the year.

Friday Evening Hall Hire Charge

To increase our hiring for a Friday evening, the Committee have agreed (at our February 2008 meeting) to REDUCE the hourly fee from £14.00 an hour to £10.00 an hour. This will take immediate effect and will stay at the new and reduced rate for the rest of this year. We hope this will be welcomed by all hirers and encourage hirers to use the hall more on a Friday evening.
NOTE: The Winter Heating Charge has not been included in the new hiring fee and will be added during January to March & October to December.

Hall Hire Charges

Due to increasing cost of oil heating, the Committee have agreed (at our February 2008 meeting) to change the hiring fees during the winter months. This will be known as WINTER HEATING CHARGE and will apply to the following months: January to March & October to December. The increase will be an extra £1.00 per hour.

Brilliant news on hall extension

The village hall committe have been granted permission for an 883 metre extension to the side of the hall,
at a West Norfolk Council development control board meeting.

The new facilities – set to include a conference room, kitchen, office, toilets and hall – will be completed in around two years and serve as a welcome boost to the community.

The existing car park at the hall is to be resurfaced and slightly extended onto the playing field, but the football pitch would not be affected.

We also plan to install a community information point with computers so people can pay their bills and communicate with the borough council without having to leave the village.

The extension can be used by youth clubs, adult education groups and people hiring the hall.

Fete & Fun Day 2007

It was a beautiful sunny Saturday 7th July and the community
gathered on the Tilney St Lawrence playing field for a day full of fun and
entertainment. Football and Fancy Dress Competition, tombola, stalls and
childrens entertainer "RAZZ the Clown".
With proceeds going towards the running of the village hall
and other worthy causes, the village committee would like to thank all concerned
for making this event the best ever.

The evening entertainment was 1st class,

and Sonic Sounds Disco playing music for all ages, everyone left at
the end of the night pleased that they had a wonderful time.
A HD TV was won on the raffle and a special "thank you" and gift was given to
honorary member Mr Philip Cullen who was given a standing ovation for all his years
service to the village hall.
After all the ceremonies we had the cheque presentation, as the cheque was revealed the crowd
clapped and roared with excitement as the total of £2,040.23 was shown. This total has never been
reached before and all credit must go to the organisers Toni Miles and Keith Bodimeade.
